According to our Membership Experience Survey, Alpha Xi Deltas shared that housing has a direct positive impact on fostering strong friendships, which is associated with an increased sense of belonging. Here are some findings from that survey:
Living in a chapter home is more than just four walls. It’s the comfort and peace you have being in a place where you belong with a supportive Sisterhood that is there for late-night chats, binge watching tv shows, shared meals, and study sessions. Life in a chapter house is full of community and connection.
Sorority housing is often located in a convenient location on campuses, and costs are typically comparable to on-campus housing. Meals, utilities, Wi-Fi, and laundry are usually included in the overall housing costs, making it an easier, less stressful experience.
Ensuring the safety of housing facilities is our number one priority. Chapter facilities are locked 24/7. Some chapters have live-in house directors who help to manage the facilities. Staff who work in chapter facilities go through background checks, as well as all guests and vendors are always escorted through the house. There are typically members-only areas in facilities where guests are not permitted. Proactive maintenance and measures are performed in chapter facilities to ensure safety and security. Facilities have built-in sprinklers, require fire drills and hold inspections regularly.
In order to create safe and secure housing environments, illegal drugs, including medically prescribed marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia, may not be stored or used on Alpha Xi Delta property. Alcohol also may not be stored or used on Alpha Xi Delta property, including within a car parked on site. Alpha Xi Delta has a zero-tolerance hazing policy, and living in one of our homes provides additional accountability to ensure anti-hazing measures are taken.
The National Housing Corporation (NHC) works with Billhighway to manage all housing-related fees for National Housing Corporation managed properties. If you have any questions or issues regarding your NHC account or statements, please contact properties@alphaxidelta.org and include the member’s full name and university. Any chapter related questions and issues should be directed to chapter officers.
The cost depends on each chapter, its needs, and the type of facility. There are many things such as amenities, food cost, number of people living in, etc. that factor into the overall cost of living in a chapter facility.
Each university is different, so not all chapters have a facility. However, our Sisters still have places to gather, host recruitment and hold meetings – typically in on-campus buildings.
Depending on the university, housing options range from traditional homes near campus to residence halls, lodges, townhomes to just a meeting room. These facilities might be owned by Alpha Xi Delta’s National Housing Corporation, a Local Building Corporation or the university.
Depending on the chapter, a housing facility will be managed by either the Alpha Xi Delta National Housing Corporation or a Local Building Corporation. Here’s a breakdown of each:
The Alpha Xi Delta National Housing Corporation (NHC) is an elected volunteer board supported by National Fraternity staff members. The NHC’s mission, in support of local corporation boards and its collegiate chapters, supports chapter facilities that provide an environment promoting Sisterhood, learning, wellbeing, and growth.
Some facilities are owned and/or managed by a team of local volunteers who oversee the maintenance, upkeep and overall structural health of the property. A Local Building Corporation is a separate entity, not affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity Headquarters or the National Housing Corporation.
The NHC and Local Building Corporations are supported by the expertise of professional partners to assist in varying aspects of property management including meal services, insurance, interior design, finance management, maintenance and more.
