Jenny's Story
I will never forget the spring of 1983. Alpha Xi Delta had chosen to colonize at our university, and my roommate Tina and I decided to attend the information meeting. We were very excited to find a number of young women from different backgrounds and majors who were looking for something outside the usual "sorority scene", and Alpha Xi Delta was the ideal choice. Zeta Rho chapter dominated "Derby Days" , and our NCSU "Cardiac Pack" won the 1983 NCAA men's national basketball championship title under the direction of Jim Valvano. Our installation and initiation took place in April 1983, the 90th anniversary of Alpha Xi Delta, and was the perfect way to end the perfect semester. Our parents and families came for the weekend, making it even more special. Although both my parents are gone now, I can still look at this old photo from a magical weekend 35 years ago and remember how proud they were of me, and how proud I was (and still am!) of Alpha Xi Delta.
