Happy 131st Founders' Day!
Dear Sisters,
Happy 131st Founders’ Day! On behalf of National Council, I want to extend my gratitude and appreciation to you and our Sisters who support Alpha Xi Delta. We asked on our social media channels, “What is one word you would use to describe Alpha Xi Delta?” Powerful, Love, Uplifting, Kind, Welcoming, Home, and Inspiring were some of the submissions. What a true testament to the legacy of our Founders! What word would you choose? Why does that word resonate with you?
As we observe this special day, we are encouraging Sisters to share their Alpha Xi Delta stories. Let’s use this Founders’ Day to celebrate the gift of friendship, connection and inspiration Alpha Xi Delta has given us. Sharing your story is important because it brings us together and creates connection. It also is a terrific way to show others the value Alpha Xi Delta has provided to your life. Students entering college are craving connections and support. Alpha Xi Delta can provide that, but we need to show them! Sharing our stories is one way we can talk about the connection, lifelong friendships and support Alpha Xi Delta provides. We have a blog post here that can help you get started if you need examples of stories that are great to share.
We have much to be proud of as an organization, but I’d like to highlight two extra special ones today. The first is our Kindly Hearts Initiative work in support of children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. It has been inspiring to see how members have embraced the focus of the Kindly Hearts Initiative, and I have loved learning more about the ways in which they have supported local and regional impact organizations. Chapters and associations have hosted a variety of fundraising events and volunteered their time and talents to make a difference. Galas, flag football tournaments, toy drives, volunteering at clothing and food pantries are just some of the ways Alpha Xi Deltas are making an impact. In addition to this, more than $100,000 was raised for StandUp for Kids and FosterClub this past November during our Letters of Love campaign!
Another exciting point of pride is the recent re-establishment of our Gamma Upsilon Chapter at the University of Georgia. The installation of the chapter was full of excitement and pride! It was especially a joy to welcome back Gamma Upsilon Chapter alumnae to campus and celebrate alongside them. The new initiates are amazing leaders who are intelligent, bold, and passionate. I know Alpha Xi Delta will thrive at UGA for generations to come!
On this Founders’ Day, I am filled with gratitude and optimism for Alpha Xi Delta’s future. This summer we are hosting two collegiate leadership programs, The Workout and The Founders’ Academy. It is always a special time when hundreds of Sisters can gather. We’re also virtually hosting Volunteer Academy, an opportunity for those who give their time and talent to the Fraternity to learn more about their roles and be inspired to work with our members.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your National President. and look forward to spreading heart-sunshine alongside you as we embark on Alpha Xi Delta’s 131st anniversary! Be sure to use #AlphaXiDelta on your social media posts and tag Alpha Xi Delta so we can see how your stories and how you are celebrating!
In Xi,
Megan Crouch
